Digital bangladesh

The golden jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh would be observed in 2021. The country has already fixed its target of achieving 'Digital Bangladesh' by that time. It is a timely expectation for proper positioning the country among other hi-tech countries globally.

A country goes digital means it will be an e-state means all its activities of governance, commerce, education, agriculture etc., will be powered by computer and internet. Today information communication technology (ICT) drives the technological and economic advancement of the developed as well as emerging economies.

The goal of establishing such digital country would bring success in the ICT sector, which cannot be ignored in this 21st century. Heading towards that target will link every device such as cell phone, internet, computer, e-learning, e-governance etc.

The colorful Buddhist Water Festival takes place from 13th to 18th April every year. To attract the tourist , The Government , in 1994, began construction of a road along the beach from Cox's Bazar to Teknaf. As of late 1995 it had reached beyond Himchari Beach.to see everyone is do not understand how is beautiful.

There is a beach road from cox’s bazaar to teknaf along side with the beach know as marine drive. It is really fantastic and thrilling to ride by this road while enjoying the beauty of the sea in one side and hilly tracks in other side.

Himchari is the nicest beach near Cox's Bazar. Malumghat, an hour north of Cox's Bazar, is well known for the Baptist missionary hospital. Ramu, 14 km east of Cox's bazar, is noted for her Buddhist Khyangs.

The evergreen and semi-evergreen tropical rainforest bordering this stretch of beach is still some of the best in the country. Inani Beach is considered the worlds longest and widest beach. It’s 180m at the narrowest at high tide and 300m at low tide. Inani is some 30 km south of Cox's Bazar.

  • Mermaid CafĂ©, Sea Inn Beach, (in Hotel Motel Zone), 01815 672855, Lunch and dinner until 7PM. Overlooking the beach south of Hotel Media International, this newer cafe is super friendly and laidback and probably the coolest place to hang out in the area. With its natural-ish vibe of wood and bamboo, it hints at the direction that Cox's Bazar coulda shoulda woulda taken way back when. If it were anywhere else it's prices would put it out of business, but here it's taka well spent. It has several sitting areas and hammocks, and a creative menu including crepes and savory pancakes, and seafood-heavy mains like shrimp salad, pastas and fish pizza for Tk 250-400. Dear Ladies and Gentle man

I am opening this thread to introduce and promote Cox's Bazaar in new image to members of respected PDF members. I am hoping to get some support and feedback to see if BD is moving at rite direction to make Cox's bazaar major tourist destination in Asia. Cox's Bazaar has immense potentiality to become one of hot spot but unfortunately government turned blind eye however last several years Government and private sector took major step to improve the infrastructure to attract tourist. Many project still underway to make it more hospitable to the tourist. It's naturally famous for Miles of golden sands, towering cliffs, surfing waves, rare conch shells, colorful pagodas, Buddhist temples and tribes, delightful sea-food--this is Cox's Bazaar. Located at a distance of 152 km. south of Chittagong, the leading seaport of Bangladesh, Cox's Bazar is connected both by air and road from Dhaka and Chittagong.

Cox's Bazar Guide is very important

Near the border with Myanmar, this town is noted for one of the world's longest and least-crowded beaches—an incredible 75-mi/121-km stretch of silvery gold sand, backed by tropical-forested hills. We found the shore to be especially impressive at sunrise and sunset, when the sand appears to change color. Cox's Bazar is a good place to enjoy water-related activities, shop for handmade clothes, relax and enjoy the scenery.

There are some interesting towns in the area: inani beach (whose beach ranges from 1,000 ft/305 m wide at low tide to 600 ft/183 m at high), Ramu (with Buddhist temples and pagodas) and Tenkaf (on the southernmost tip of Bangladesh). Hotels and cottages are adequate, but space tends to fill quickly on weekends during the dry season. We recommend a minimum of three nights in the area. 60 mi/95 km south of Chittagong.

single planet review

This monster sized complex is divided into two hotels. The Western Plaza is the cheaper of the two blocks and has slightly tiered but otherwise clean and spacious rooms. You can expect an immediate 45% discount on the above rates.

The Crown Plaza (room from Tk 3000, plus 25% tax) is the big boys choice and though the standard rooms are utterly devoid of personality they do have baths as well as showers (in case you're really dirty). They're also mercifully free of the tacky, fake chandeliers and massive presidential portrait of the hotel chairman that blights the reception. After the almost guaranteed discount you will only be paying Tk 2000 a room with all taxes, making this a certified bargain.

introduction

Golden sands, miles after miles, overlooked by genteel . cliffs and awash with foaming waves, colourful conch shells, ponderous pagodas, delicious seafood - this is Cox's Bazar. BNUS Starts Research Work on Seismic Microzonation for Cox’s Bazar Municipality

Bangladesh is located in a tectonically active zone. Cox’s Bazar, situated in the southeastern part of the country, is a strategically and economically important area. The district is exposed to most devastating natural disasters of the country where earthquake has recently appeared as additional threat. In the seismic zoning map of Bangladesh, provided in BNBC (Bangladesh National Building Code 1993), Cox’s Bazar has been shown under Zone II with design peak ground acceleration (PGA) value of 0.15g (Z=0.15). This level of acceleration may be considered as more or less equivalent to a seismic intensity of VIII. Historical information reveals that earthquakes of magnitude between 6 and 7 have occurred around the city in the past. Thus Cox’s Bazar and the nearby area are considered to fall in the High Risk Zone for earthquakes.A The frequent earthquakes in and around the country, particularly Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar regions, also point toward the potential of such intensity earthquakes, even much higher.

Cox's Bazar, having been a great tourist resort a rapid urbanization has occurred in the last few decades including various establishments, construction of significant number of buildings and other structures in an unregulated manner and without seismic design considerations. The consequences of moderate to strong earthquake event can be catastrophic if such a densely populated urban area is affected.

One of the major concerns during an earthquake is the presence of vulnerable soils near the ground surface. In order to assess seismic vulnerability based on Ground Susceptibility, Seismic Micro Zonation is considered to be the first step towards a seismic risk analysis and mitigation strategy for urban areas. Liquefaction phenomena can affect buildings, bridges, buried pipelines, lifelines and other constructed facilities in many different ways. Local soil effects can amplify the ground motion and thus lead to intensity greater than the projected ones in certain areas causing more damage. Landslide has become very common in the hilly areas of southeastern Bangladesh, especially in Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Cox's Bazar. Every year especially in the rainy season landslides take place in both natural and man-induced slopes. Considerable number of buildings, roads and other infrastructures are damaged and valuable lives are lost in these incidents. The loss of lives and properties due to Landslide events in Cox’s Bazar is also very significant.

sundorbon

The ShundorBon is the world’s largest mangrove forest with swampy habitat of varying salinity, mangrove composition, large predators on land and in water and hundreds of other flora and fauna. Majestic tiger, charming deer, enormous crocodiles, sneaky monkeys, numerous species of birds and disparate vegetation have made this diversity rare in the world. With these flourishing and endangered species, the ShundorBon is indeed a Treasure island of biodiversity. This magical mangrove forest is situated along the South-Western coastline of the Bay of Bengal.

The most beautiful among the khyangs is the one near Bakkhali on Tiger Canal. The khyang houses relics and Burmese handicrafts and a 10-feet high bronze statue of Buddha resting on a 6-feet high pedestal. The wood carving of this khyang is very delicate and refined.

Cox’s Bazar is the land with potential for tourism

Miles of golden sands, towering cliffs, surfing waves, rare conch shells, colorful pagodas, Buddhist temples and tribes, delightful sea-food–this is Cox’s Bazar, the tourist capital of Bangladesh. Having the world’s longest (120 kilometers.) beach sloping gently down to the blue waters of the Bay of Bengal, Cox’s Bazar is one of the most attractive tourist sport in the country.

Cox’s Bazar, located at a distance of 152 km. south of Chittagong, the leading seaport of Bangladesh, Cox’s Bazar is connected both by air and road from Dhaka and Chittagong.

Other attractions for visitors are conch shell market, tribal handicraft, salt and prawn cultivation.
Besides, the longest sea-beach, Cox’s Bazar and it’s adjoin areas have a lot of things to see and places deserve visit by the tourists.

Himchari : A nice place for picnic and shooting. The famous “Broken Hills” and waterfalls here are rare sights. It is about 32 km. South of Cox’s Bazar along the beach

Inani : Adjacent to Himchari and just on the beach, with the sea to the west and a background of steep hills to the east. Inani casts a magic spell on those who step into that dreamland. It is only half an hour’s drive from Cox’s Bazar and an ideal place for Sea-bathing and picnic.

St. Martins Island : This small coral island about 10km (6mi) south-west of the southern tip of the mainland is a tropical clichĂ©, with beaches fringed with coconut palms and bountiful marine life. There’’s nothing more strenuous to do here than soak up the rays, but it’’s a clean and peaceful place without even a mosquito to disrupt your serenity. It’’s possible to walk around the island in a day because it measures only 8 sq km (3 sq mi), shrinking to about 5 sq km (2 sq mi) during high tide. Most of island’’s 5500 inhabitants live primarily from fishing, and between October and April fisher people from neighbouring areas bring their catch to the island’’s temporary wholesale market. A ferry leaves Teknaf for St Martin every day and takes around 3 hours.

Getting to St. Martin’s is a three-step program. First you’ll need to fly or bus it down to Cox’s Bazar, or direct by bus to Teknaf, which is right on the very tip of Bangladesh, sandwiched up against Myanmar. From Teknar, ferries run daily to St. Martin Island. The total distance from Dhaka to the island is 510km (316miles).

coxbazar

Cox’s Bazar again came to the lime light by competing as a natural wonders of the world. 121 KM lengthy this sandy sea beach is the longest and least-crowded beaches of the world. Still now most part of this beach is virgin, did not captured totally by commercialization. However the Cox’s Bazar is most desired tourist spot for all Bangladeshi. Nowadays based beach the urbanization is increasing. World class exotic hotels, motels and resorts have been established. But the local people still now poor living by finishing, agriculture and tourism based small entrepreneurship. The hotel investment mostly comes from outside of the district, majority owners are from Dhaka and Chittagong as complete business men.

Because of tourism here the market price here high compare to other places of Bangladesh. The communication from Dhaka and Chittagong here good. There luxurious bus and local airline services. “Saudia Aslam’ is the latest addition of ‘Marcity Benz’ bus server. But the global standard beach cultural practices and living environment have not yet been well accepted by the local people because of illiteracy and conservative practices. With the governmental patronization the Cox’s Bazar can be more attractive tourist spot. The months of September and October are best seasons to enjoy the sunset.

Note: Cox’s Bazar is located 150 km south of Chittagong, is also known by the name “Panowa”, the literal translation of which means “yellow flower”. Its other old name was “Palongkee”. The modern Cox's Bazar derives its name from Captain Cox (died 1798), an army officer serving in British India. Because of climate change, sea level rising and salinity increasing, the city and beach now environmentally under threat.

Cox's Bazar Sea Food

The unpolluted brackish waters or the Bay of Bengal are home of various species of marine shrimps and demersal fish. Among marine shrimps, major species in terms of volume of yield from catches, landings and aquaculture are the Giant Tiger Shrimp, Indian White Shrimp, and Yellow Shrimp.
Form the inland fisheries resources, the major yield for international marketing remains the Giant River fish and Cox’s Bazar Sea foods, operating under the same management, market these products, among others, in the international marketing chain for food, fish and sea foods.

Risks and problem

The coastal areas of Cox's Bazar are prone to devastating cyclones and landslides on a yearly basis. The areas near the Cox’s Bazar town are located directly in the high risk area for surge water heights above 1 meter as well as landslides. There was a 70% casualty rate near the town area during the 1991 cyclone Another hazard of the Cox's Bazar area is the high natural background radiation which has been found to be above global average. There has been reported incidents of human casualty due to actions of wild elephants in the locality. The threat of mosquito borne diseases like Malaria also may be higher in the area. However, all these hazards mainly affect long term residents of the area and visiting tourists should be able to guard against these risks with appropriate precautions. For them these are not at all a considerable problem. emergency health services are available in the Cox's bazar district hospital which is secondary level hospital in

Sonadia, 4.63 sq.km, is noted for its bird life act as a temporary sanctuary for migrating birds-petrels, geese, curlews, snipe, shanks, lapwings, ducks and the waterfowl. Maheskhali, some 6 km north-west of Cox's Bazar, is a nice place for a daily trip. People are poor but friendly. St Martin's island is 8 km south-west of Badarmokam and 48 km from Teknaf. It's the only coral island in the country with no vehicles, one singal road, and genuinely friendly people. Named after a British provincial governor, and called Narikel Jinjira by the locals, the dumbell-shaped St.Martin's has an area of about 8 sq.km, which reduces to 5 sq.km. during the high tide and becomes four islnads-Jinjira, Galachira, Ciradia and Uttarpara.

eating and drinking

Sea Stone Cafe: Sea Inn Beach, 1am til late. As the only two-storey building on the beachfront, Sea Stone CafĂ© offers superb 180 degree views of the Cox’s Bazar beach. Its top deck is the best place in town to watch the sun set over the Bay of Bengal. Quality Western and Asian dishes are on offer, as well as fresh juices, real coffee and herbal teas. Entrees include grilled prawns, calamari and nicoise salad. Homemade pasta, pizza, chicken, beef and seafood dishes are on offer for mains. If you are after fresh prawns, calamari, crab, lobster or fish, this is the place for you. The staff are friendly and although the service can be slow, it doesn’t matter because there’s nowhere else in Cox’s that you will be in a hurry to get to!

shoping with wood sandal

There are lots of shops in the Hotel Motel Zone catering to Bangladeshi tourists. Things made of sea shells are very popular and also sold by vendors on the beach, but think twice about encouraging such a non-eco friendly practice.

You can also check out the Burmese Market. You can try some local beauty products (sandal wood based), which is so nice for our leg

Cox’s Bazar the Pride of Bangladesh we belive that

Cox’s Bazar is one of the most attractive tourist spots & the longest sea beach in the world (approx. 120 km long). Miles of golden sands, towering cliffs, surfing waves, rare conch shells, colorful pagodas, Buddhist temples and tribes, delightful seafood–this is Cox’s Bazar, the tourist capital of Bangladesh.

The warm shark free waters are good for bathing and swimming & while the sandy beaches offer opportunities for sun-bathing.

The beauty of the setting-sun behind the waves of the sea is simply captivating. Locally made cigars and handloom products of the tribal Rakhyne families are good buys.
